Greg,

I used filler neck hose made for filling gas tanks. Bought it online from the FILLER NECK HOSE CO. The bends were 1.5 inch aluminum tubing with a right angle bend. I think It was called an L tube. I don't remember, but I think I got it from Summit Racing. It was designed for customizing radiator hose installations.

My tubing size was 1.5" but I don't think its necessary to go that big. 1" or even 3/4" is huge compared to what is on the engine now. You can see how the L tubes work in the photos at the top.

The tubing I have is 32mm OD with 3mm wall thickness makes it 25mm ID or 1 inch I hope it is strong enough when tig welded in Was your tubing 1"ID and how thick was the wall sorry for all the silly questions as I am now using the original manifolds and don't want to mess it up I live in Australia and not familiar with those places I will drop the hoses I have in some petrol and see what happens to the rubber.

Thats about the same wall thickness I used and had no trouble getting it welded. My tube was 1.25" ID, 1.5" OD. There was no engineering involved in choosing the tube size. That size is just what I had laying around the shop. I would guess that 1" ID would work just as well. Looking at the tubing used on the FLYGAS website, the tubing that crosses from one side to the other appears to be somewhere around 1".

Bear in mind that I'm a just a shade tree mechanic and was pleasantly surprised that the thing actually worked. Hope you have good luck with yours.

Fired up the sabre this morning the engine would falter on throttle advance and not get to full revs seems as though its starving for fuel doesn't make sense perhaps the turbo is doing this got a mate with a 912 in a savannah might swap manifolds and see if his engine works I welded the pipe ends off to the sides of the manifolds and connected them together with a straight piece of 32mm fuel hose the job looked neat but I now wonder if they are in the wrong spot engine ran smooth though still got the plugs I drilled out so may have to weld them back in.
