Hey Bill Martin. Are you still flying your modified balance tube? After a similar thread was started on the Technical 912/914 area I looked for this one and decided to bring it up for more discussion.
I built and installed my version of your design more than eight years ago and have logged around 500 very satisfying hours with no problems at all.
Re Balance tube modifications. On my 914 I have inserted a half inch gas brass tap in the compensating tube to simplify the tuning process. Had to be half inch to allow the barbed hose fittings to have the internal diameter to suit the comp tube. Tuning the carbs is simple now, no having a special tool to clamp hoses and no hose removal, just turn the tap off, fit nipples to the manifolds and attach Carb Mate hoses. Naturally the tap is lock wired ON after tuning. John Harris
