Yes I did try to start it. But according to my knowledge a DC motor w brushes should just turn the other direction, but not take damage. All winding were ok..no sign of overheating..it just doesn't turn the engine thru any more. On the 912S the starter was never as strong turning as on the 912 (80hp) due to compression I guess. BUt as the negine allways started well it wasn't aproblem.
I checked all contacts for corrosion etc. and even tried to start with battery leads attached directly to mass and starter +...but still no difference, I could only start it when adding "hand power" by turning prop additionally. then it started very well at first pass through compression point. So engine doesn't seem to have any resistance due to corrosion or similar.
I just dont understand it.
I've ordered a stronger 1000W starter to be brought by a friend in dec, but havent got confirmation yet.
