It was pulled on Monday and shipped to Lockwood. It should arrive today.

The issue is said to be wear in the dog gear. The user will not find increased metal in the magnetic plug but oil analysis will show high iron. The wear is very small but enough to cause vibration. He said the fix includes increased oil flow to the affected area.
I hope you are not grounded for an extended period. I have been waiting to hear when to expect a replacement gearbox before I removed mine just for that reason. Although since your airplane is AOG you might get one of the first ones. Time will tell which strategy is the best.
From what I understand there are very few parts that interchange between the original gearbox and the redesigned gearbox. It may be cheaper to just get a completely new gearbox.
