Can I replace original spark plug connector with connectors for a 582? Don't they do the same? I saw the price for the original and I have to borrow money from Fort Knox to be able to afford 'em. Anyone?

No, they are different and will not fit the 912 spark plugs.

Andy,
If you are talking about the NGK VD05FMH resistive caps then they aren't too expensive, a quick look on ebay.com shows some from about $7. I've only ever had to replace them when the pull-off force is no longer within spec. I think I've only ever replaced about 4 in the 800hr life of my engine.

I found the exact replacement caps at sparkplugs.com for about $3.00.
