I have removed the cylinder and can see no sign of a crack using a Snap-On Borescope, thinking of using a dye penetrant while waiting for the Rotax seals and Loctite 598 to be delivered.
Thanks for all the help.
Ron
Could you just have a bad seal?
The dye penetrant is an excellent idea since you have things apart.
It may boil down to just using some Loctite 598 on the stud or re-sealing.

remember; the studs on #3 cylinder don't have seals or o-rings on pre-2006 crankcases.
Always try to use fluorescent penetrant for NDI. dye penetrant is discouraged for use in aviation as it can hide cracks in further testing.
yaa, yaa, I know, the photo I posed was dye penetrant. (but that crankcase was scrap and dye is better for photos)
Had another A&P/IA look with the bore scope and found no sign of a crack, did see what may be a small area of porosity on the backside of the area where the stud screws in to the case.
Plan to proceed with the Loctite 598 repair as soon as the O-rings and parts from Lockwood arrive.
