I hesitate to mention this but are you sure you are not over filling your oil tank? I went through a similar witch hunt when I first started changing my own oil. On my REMOS the oil will over flow when the engine is hot and the air flow around the engine will make oil appear in all kinds of strange places on the engine. At one point I was convinced the leak was where the valve rod guide tubes were pressed into the block. Just sayin.
Thanks Ernest but no it is not due to overfilling the oil tank.
Oil is leaking from the base of the cylinder stud, traveling along its length and leaking at the cylinder head/cylinder junction. This has been confirmed by teardown.
Reinstalled #3 cylinder with Loctite 598 on the stud threads that were leaking. Poor weather today, did three 20 minute ground runs with no leaks found. Will fly as soon as weather permits and give results.
598 has a tack setup time of 30 min. with a full cure time of 24 hrs.
Did you wait a day before running the engine?
