One thing that has happened recently was the shroud around the turbo air filter became loose and a small percentage of the filter is visible, so some air into the filter is coming from inside the cowling, not the NACA duct. I didn't think this was a huge issue, so I've held off fixing it until I had the bottom cowling off. Maybe that's the cause?

I wonder did he use that plugged port on the airbox for the MAP sender? If so, I bet he didn't give you the plug. Here’s a link to the airbox temp sensor Peter C & I are using, works well on the G3X, I’m sure you’ll find an equivalent locally.
I’m amazed Rotax does not include an airbox temp indication sensor in the normal scope of supply, having a TCU function that automatically reduces power without warning or indication of activation is frankly unacceptable, think Boeing MCAS on the 737MAX.

The loose filter housing could well be an issue, it could also possibly explain the intermittent nature of the problem if it moves around a bit. Well worth exploring a fix for it anyway even if it is not the cause of your power loss.
