Absolutely, in fact it is more at risk than a decade-old engine with 1000 hours on it! That engine is at risk for failure due to the potential of corrosion inside, and other internal factors due to the oil degrading over time.
Even if it was properly "pickled" for storage, that process is only good for 24 months. (Must be repeated at annual intervals)
What does the log book say? Has the engine been treated according the ROTAX storage procedure at the specified intervals over its entire idle lifetime?
