I have a 100 hp 912 that the pilot said would not start.(in the middle of no where) When I got there the engine is turning over fine but is making a blowing noise.Found no2 cylinder head was loose. In fact all the cylinder head nuts where loose. On further investigation I found one of the coolant hoses had a hole in it after rubbing against the exhaust sooo I assume he ran it hot (hence the loose cylinder head nuts). I tightened the heads and now the left bank carb seems to be flooding and she is trying to start but will not quiet catch. Can you help?
Don't run the engine any more. It needs major maint. The heads need to go out for hardness testing and other components need attention to check for any further damage. Lockwood or Leading Edge can do the hardness test. You may have warped parts.
It's always good to have a full set of gauges to keep an eye on things before they get too far. Depending on how bad his problem is the whole engine may need to go in.
