I have a Remos G3 from 2003 with the Rotax 912ULS fitted with the Ignitec ignition modules. The Ducati regulator failed and I decided to change to litium battery. The choice was AIRBATT Starting Power LPB 5900 4A2P 12V 5.0 Ah LiFePO4 Starter Battery with the CARMO CARR5115 regulator. Just looked to be a lean and fine option, 5 wires, 2 for generator, 2 for the battery and 1 for the charger light indicator.
I fitted all and did the ground test run, all fine. Went for a flight with the wife. Climber out to 2500 feet an after apprx 5 min then suddenly the engine at 4200 rpm made some rough cut outs, by reducing to 3900 rpm the engine then again was running fine. Decided to return immidiately to the airfield. Did some further ground test runs and I could repeat the situation.
Contacted both Carmo and Ignitech, but they could not give any explanation. My considerations, the ignition and the charger system is 2 separate systems, so how can this happen ?
Carmo is saying more Rotax 912 are flyving around with the CARR5115 regulator, but they offered a full refund on return of the item.
Changed to the AIRBATT GR10 OVP 12V Lead/LiFePO4 Generator regulator and have not had problems since.
Just some experience from my side.
