In various forums 912iS Sport users have described premature gearbox wear and failure sometimes at rather low hours. However most of these posts seem to be from the middle 2010s soon after the engine was released. Has the reliability of the gearbox improved in more recently manufactured engines, since I understand the gearbox design was changed at some point?

My June 2018 engine still had the old gearbox but it was replaced with the new design before installation in August 2019. So far good at 200 hours.

Hi Adam,
My 912IS engine gearbox is from 2015 but has had the upgrades as per Rotax SB's. Currently at 850 hr and no issues.

Hi Glenn - Thanks for the info. I tried to find the SBs but could not. Do you happen to know the SB numbers?
