If you leave non-R floats in, you are just asking for a problem down the road, IMO.  I would consider installing R floats as "preventative maintenance".

I almost never throw old parts away, includes old carb.

I will be switching them in the near future, wish this had came up a few days ago before installation. I had not seen it clearly defined which carb float was the most current by markings on the float.

Did you ask Lockwood to upgrade the floats at no charge to you. Clearly, they should not have sold you a "new" carb with floats that are known to be bad. I would think they would recognize this immediately upon it being brought to their attention.

I will contact Lockwood but first I need to verify my current floats I think they have two dots but need to check. Airplane is 45 miles away.

Able to prove my carb had the old floats on paper using the carb s/n and SB.  Called Lockwood and they would not believe me so had to drive 80 miles to open carb. Floats are bing floats with a B on them. Will call them again tomorrow and hope they believe me now.

I am kind of curious about what was wrong with your old carb that made you get an entirely new one.
