Hello, my airplane develop only 5000 RPM in take off with a 912UL, I checked the carburetor and it is wide open with full throttle, then I believe that the cause is the propeller pitch. Is it a problem ?
If your prop pitch is too coarse, even by a couple of degrees, your engine will not reach max recommended rpm. Why would you think that that was the problem unless you have recently changed the pitch Ricardo?
John
Hello John, I bought this airplane some weeks ago, but never could see the real RPM because the original Rotax tachometer, #1211009750A, has unsolveable stability problem, then I installed a digital tachometer and could see that the engine reach only 5000 RPM. I didn´t change the prop pitch, it is as I bought. My consern is if this condition will put the engine in a load or condition not good for it working. I have no problem with power at take off and climbing speed, and the fuel consumption is very good. Thanks :)
Ricardo
A quick look in the POH handbook will give you all the info on max, cruise and idle rpm Ricardo, and also the degrees of set for the prop blades. The Rotax engine is designed to work efficiently within narrow parameters; when purchasing a used engine the parameters need to be checked. Sometimes people tweek engines without really knowing the consequences.
