Thx Garret,

I thought of that, but putting in those bends would put 4 more places for possible leaks.
Was thinking the longer hose would be better in the long run?

I just came across some Rotax data somewhere in the manuals where it defines hose I.D. based on length, keep that in my also keep in mind the hose chafing due to vibration. It probably does not matter how you do it as long as the hose is not kinked or restricted in some way.

Do u remember what manual by chance?
I looked for data on that and couldn't find it.
It would be just under 4ft with 1/2 inch mil h 6000 hose

Doing it this way would give me the most gradual bends and no chaffing.

Also found this on a light Sport Forum.
According to the engine manufacturer, a fractured oil shaft drive pin is indicative of an oil system with restrictive
hoses and fittings that can result in a pulsating oil supply to the oil pump. The pulsating loading of the drive pin can result in a fractured drive pin. The Rotax 912 installation manual stipulates that oil hoses have an inside diameter of 11 millimeters. The oil hoses recovered with the wreckage had inside diameters that measured 9 millimeters. Additionally, the Rotax 912 installation manual stipulates full-flow angled fittings for oil hose connections. Examination of the oil cooler revealed a right-angle fitting that did not meet the engine manufacturer's full-flow fitting specification.

Hi all,

I moved my oil cooler out front and it has been working good with just myself.
The oil cooler is not as wide as the opening so I could get a slightly wider cooler if need be.
Yesterday was a sunny 75 degrees, full fuel and passenger. Oil temp was hitting 230 in cruise and 250 climbing.

Is this normal on a warm day or should I get the slightly bigger oil cooler?
