New 912 ULS

in 912 / 914 Technical Questions 7 years ago
Oil Change Routine for NEW 912ULS. Read it somewhere but can’t find!
Changed at 25hrs (oil and filter.) What’s the next sequence: 50-75-100? Also where exactly did I read it SB; MM ?

    Perform the full 100Hr inspection after the first 25 hours.
    Line Maintenance Manual, Section 05-20-00, Page 4.

    Chane Oil Every 100 Operating Hours or every 50 hours if using 100LL Fuel.
    Line Maintenance Manual, Section 05-20-00, Page 16.

    Many change every 50 Hours or 25 if using 100LL.
    Cheap insurance!

    Aware of the 100 hr requirements et al.
    Just thought perhaps after the 25hr oil change, the next was 50hrs. Subsequent checks @ 75 then the standard 100hrs for NEW engine.

    Almost everyone I know changes oil at 25 hrs. with 100LL and 50 hrs. with auto fuel. I know what the book says about 100 hrs, but most of us see this as the life blood of the engine just like a person's body. Disease the blood and the body or body parts gives up sooner just like people. This is what I see taught in many classes. There needs to be a time factor in this to. Oil shouldn't sit in the engine forever. Most pilots only fly 30-70 hrs. a year. Then for most this means only one oil change per year. That's only about $55. It's worth having an good running engine well past TBO and that $55 insurance may help stave off more expensive issues down the line. Look at it like insurance. We pay insurance hoping nothing bad every happens with our homes, bodies, cars and for some even our pets. Maybe you'll never need one, but if you do it can save thousands and a lot of pain.

    Bottom line the decision is up to you.

    May I suggest a MoGas Oil change schedule at 25,60,100,150,200,...
    This would give change intervals of 25,35,40,50,50,50,...
