I see, yes the wires can rub through the insulation and intermittently contact the shielding.
This was what happened back in 1990's with the stator recall.
But, this is very unusual since the recall with the new tefzel wire and separate insulating sleeve on each red wire.
ohm out each red wire from six-pin connector to ground. it should be no more than 4 ohms.
that is OK, the official range is 3.2 to 4.0 but 3.1 could just be an meter error; what reading do you get when you hold the probes together?
Anyways 3.1 is not enough of a problem to make it run poorly.
