Whoever designed the housing module for the ducati rectifier regulator must have very strong hands. I have attempted to push the 2 clips in and slide the housing off but it will not budge. A very poor design.
I take a screwdriver and push the small clip down and then pull the clip out just past it's opening. Then I do the other side. Now both pins are out and the whole plug comes out easily. I use both hands to squeeze it back in place.
One thing to make installing and removing the plug is to apply some dielectric grease on the connections and the outside edges of the plug. It then makes it easy to insert the plug FULLY and makes sure that all spade connectors inside get FULLY seated. If these connectors don't fully seat and just touch their tips then arcing can occur. When you push the plug in place take a second look and make sure both clip pins are fully seated through the opening and the plug is fully seated.

I have the same problem with my 2 modules. No start unless I use the heat gun, then instant start.
i have tried to get new modules from Bert Flood, the Rotax folk her in Australia, but they just tell me that they are out of stock, no indication from them when they will be available.
I even tried the USA, they say on their website that they cannot sell them out of the USA. In the meantime my aeroplane is just collecting hangar dust. Not good enough Rotax!
