912 UL fail

While cruising at 5000 RPM, after 35 minutos, the 912UL of my airplane failed during 1 or 2 seconds aproximately, a fail similar to 1 or 2 cylinder off. After it, I flew more 25 minutes, up to landing. The mags are ok, oil presure and temperature ok, coolant pressure and temperature ok, CHT ok, no EGT yet. A friend mine, with large experience, told me that many times he experienced similar problem with other engines,4 and 2 stroke, and from other brands, and he think that it can be some dirt in the carburetor. Somebody experimented something similar ?

Hi Richardo,

Not much info to go one, but yes it could be fuel or electrical. Fuel is the first thing I would check. Fuel is easy enough to check so that would be a good place to start. You may not find dirt in a carb bowl and sometimes you need to remove and flush the carbs. Plugs may be another easy item to look at.

Hello Roger, we found some insects in the gascolator, fuel filter was clean, but some steel filings in the carburetor float chamber. I have no idea from where are these steel filings !

could be a fuel pump going bad or a fuel filter.
