Did prop balance. No real change in weight, but it revealed a tachometer reading too low. Now I need to pitch the other way, which brings me more prop bolt questions…
I decided to order new bolts from warp, as old nylons nuts were buggered and old bolts have a strange configuration. Old bolts have lock washers on the front, and safety wire holes, and nylock nuts on back. Seems overkill. Then, they also have oversized steel washers on back, some of which have warped into the recess a bit where the spacer is. Those space inserts seem too short.
I’d like to use new bolts, but wonder about proper spacers and washers on the back given that the warp supplied AN-960 washer seems too small for the size of the hole in back. I presume AN-970 would be better. But then, maybe the real problem is with the spacers.
The more I get into this prop installation, the less I understand it. Seeking prop aficionados.
I’ll call Warp on Monday.
