I just took delivery of a new 914. The engine was manufactured in November of 2017. Unlike my other 914,s, this one came with 4 liters of “Rotax 10w-50w break- in oil. I’m not able to find any documentation on the oil, how long to run it or any advisories from Rotax about the included oil. Any information you can offer is appreciated
Thanks
Thanks for the reply Ken. My concern is that this oil is labeled “break-in” oil. Typically break-in oils are designed and intended to be used for a very specific time (hours). I also noticed 2 new bolts protruding form the prop end of the engine, 1 above the magnetic plug and one below it. I was wondering if Rotax made a design change to the reduction drive and the break-in oil was now mandatory.
I've never heard of an aviation Rotax 10-50W oil. We all just use at the begining what you'll use all the time,,i.e. Aero Shell Sport Plus 4. I did an internet search and couldn't find it either. You sure that isn't a See-Doo oil or something along that line?
I'd like to see a picture of this oil.
