It also has a different needle size. It's just the way the fuel delivery needs to be for a different size cylinder setup and compression. Something some engineer figured out a long time ago and then was proven on dyno testing.
Here's a list of jet sizes that may be in the 912UL, 912ULS and the 914. Not to mention the 914 has one needle clip in a different slot than the other. If you live at high altitude and fly high all the time you may have both needle clips in a leaner position.
