high oil temperature

Shortly after takeoff oil temperature pegged, turned around and landed. On short final the oil temperature dropped to the normal range. All other indications in the green and engine running smoothly. CHT normal and oil pressure 45 - 50. Oil level in the full range. It was a warm day 90F at 5,000 ft field elevation. Am I looking at a bad sensor or an engine problem? Running a 914ul 225 hours.
