After changing oil at 50 hours my oil is quite dark in color after 3 hours on the new oil.
Is this normal? Oil changed after first 25 hours Then at 75 hours.
Yes, it's normal for two reasons.
When we burn fossil fuels we make carbon which is the black in color. Black color has nothing to do with lubrication. This is the oils job to remove abrasive carbon. The only real way to assess an oils lubrication quality is to have a lab analyze it. The other reason the oil turns black quickly is you can not purge (nor should you try) all the old black oil out of the engine, cooler and hoses. So the new oil mixes with what's left of the old oil and stains it black.
