I used to have a 16 gallon header tank in my Zodiac 601 HDS, but now I have two lading edge tanks, 10 gallons each, and I am adding a 7 gallon wing baggage locker. I will have to pay attention to fuel tank switching. If I accidentally run a tank dry while in flight and do not switch tanks in time, leading to the engine stopping, what is the proper method to restart the 912 ULS in flight? Thanks.

Damien Graham
I have shut my engine off numerous times to practice landings and gliding just for fun. It usually starts right back up. If you run the system dry of fuel then I would full choke it and crack the throttle. It should start right up after a couple of prop turns.

I routinely use all the fuel from one wing tank and then switch to the other. The engine restarts within 15 seconds or so of opening the other valve. I found that keeping the empty tanks' valve open for a minute or so that the system better vents air through the empty tank while filling the header tank.
I have also run a tank dry. If I'm quick, and get the other tank open and the empty tank closed, it will splutter then catch and away we go. I don't have a header tank and need to get the empty tank shut off quick to get it pulling from the full one.
I tried an air start/dive with an instructor as per the video but was approaching VNE without the prop moving much.
He put it down to a new, tight engine.
