How do I know if I'm appling enough or too much force to the vavle rocker to check that the lifters are primed in a 912 ULS-2 and is there a tool that can show the feel when applying the 15 lbf.
It isn't as critical to be as accurate with this 15lbs as it would be for a bolt torque. It's just a good general target pressure. Lift 15 lbs or press it above your head and you'll get a general idea of the pressure to apply. If you have air behind a lifter 1-2 lbs won't make a big difference.
A target of 15 lbs. is better than trying to have some people only apply 3 lbs or some trying to apply 50 lbs.

If I have to replace the valve cover o rings every time I purge on an oil change, or even if I have to replace one or more because the lifter is soft, then that seems to be a fairly expensive exercise. And if the remedy for soft lifter is starting and running at 3500 for 5 minutes up to three times for each soft lifter, (let’s say potentially 4 x 3 runs =12 engine runs ....unlikely but still allowed by the manual) how critical is it to do this part of the purging procedure anyway? On a 200hour engine why not just do a few short engine runs.
