    Thanks Roger, The more I think about it, the more inclined I am to want to try a Full synthetic oil with the premium unleaded fuel I use.
    Shell Advance Ultra is looking good. API SM, JASO MA2

    Ian,

    On the bottle of Aeroshell sport plus 4 there are, as you said, two dates.
    One is the born-on date and the other is the expiration date. They are two years apart.

    If you read further down, it states a retest date of four years from the born-on date.

    So what are they really saying? If it expires, like they say, two years from the date of MFG, then why list a retest date of four years from the born-on date.

    Seems like the oil should be good for awhile after the expiration date. This is only my opinion, with no facts to back it up. It just makes sense to me.

    There has been much discussion of this topic on another forum.

    Thanks for your additional information.

    I find it interesting that Shell publish dates (RT) on the oil but we do not have the data and specifications for what the date implies.

    For example, Shell or Rotax should publish more information for the customers who use their oil.

    a) What is a RT process?
    b) Who can perform a RT?
    c) Can the oil be used past the RT date?

    I find that it is not uncommon for supply of the oil to be within a year of the RT when purchased new. This places even more importance on the information because it is not unknown for the date to expire by the time it is used.

    May be Shell or Rotax design engineers reading the Forum can provide the answers.

      there are many replies from experts..... Roger Lee is an expert and Thomas Uhr is the representative of Rotax.

    These are sufficient.
