I will be using 93 Octane Premium unleaded fuel in my Rotax 912 ULS (in a Zenith 701) What is the weight/gallon to use in calculating weight and balance.
This calculation is important since my 701 has four 11 gallon tanks.
Normal calculation number is 6 lbs. per gal and I have seen some use 6.3
Quote from another site, but good info:
"If you know the specific gravity (relative density) of a liquid, such as gasoline, you can determine the weight per gallon by multiplying the specific gravity by 8.34 lb/gal (the weight of pure water).
Gasoline has a specific gravity of 0.71 - 0.77. Multiplying those numbers by 8.34 lb/gal and you come up with a range of 5.921 lb/gal - 6.422 lb/gal.
This math works out because specific gravities are normally referenced to water for liquids and air for gases."
