Because also in Rotax 912 series piston pin offset is used had i'd like to submit this wonderful engine paper where in page 32-35 there are good infos on this subject with beautiful graphics.

It seems an engine tech paper but i repeat see page 32-35 for best description i have seen on piston offset.
As you can see piston offset can be in either direction related to crankshaft rotation (with different purposes) so Jabiru can be less guilty ...
Last thing! In the article at page 36-41 there is excellent description on crankshaft offset.

That is the clearest description of piston and crank offset I've ever seen.
