Jay,

Any sharp bends in the bowden cables can cause this. Also lack of lubrication in the cable sheath and the splitter. Sometimes a weak return spring on the carb end of the cable can be a problem. Pushrods will definitely work if you can work out the pathway for the rods. Another solution is to use the solid wire type cables. No return springs necessary with the solid pushpull wire.

I have abandoned the push rod mod, it's not cost effective to put bastard items in your plane when you are the only maintainer. The mod was becoming more trouble than it was worth.

Hi Jay,
we have installed the McFarlane throttle cables and are very impressed. They have a Rotax version with a splitter built in and nice hardware.
I know the Kitfox IV is very challenging with the outboard carbs and very short throttle cables so some experimenting with cable routing will be required. Try ordering extra long cables and criss-crossing them so the engine shake is absorbed? You can then trim the cables to length. (the stock cables are horrible; when the engine shakes in the mounts the throttles are pulled!) Note: This design pre-dates the current Kitfox company who have an excellent installation.
