How can you tell if a 912 gearbox has an overload clutch installed, without dismantiling the gearbox? It seems to me that the externals are identical or am I missing something?
You don't do a friction torque test on a gearbox with no slipper clutch. An easy way to check is the gearbox without a clutch will not have any free rotation of 15-30 degrees depending on which dog gear set you have. The gearbox with a slipper clutch has that free rotation. You can feel it just by grabbing the prop and turning it slightly.
