hey Bill, thanks,

I had to rewind the eight charging coils on a 582 alternator, sealing them with polyester fiber, epoxy resin and heat, more than ten years ago, and this alternator is still working on a cart,

I can't understand the regulators ' loose ' yellow cable, though, and neither my friends indications, that this is two regulators in one,
(he is not available at the instant),

¿ what is the third yellow cable for ?,
¿ how are those internal connections ?,

Milo,

With some regulators there is a yellow wire which is not connected. Go to the top of the page and click on SUPPORT/BULLETINS. Click on manuals and choose the 2 cycle installation manual. Go to 18.5.2, fig. 42 and you will see the extra unconnected yellow wire.

Your friend may be right. I seem to remember reading something once that if that type of regulator quit working, sometimes you could use the extra yellow wire, but I can't recall the details.

There is nothing you can do to repair the regulator internally. All the guts are potted in epoxy.

One other palce you might find out is 1-800-airwolf.com. Go to their website and click on TECH INFO at top of page, then click on tech articles. There is all sorts of info there on the electrical systems.

I found the info and it says that there is a backup circuit built in. You can switch from the yellow wire now in use to to the extra wire and use the backup system. It is all in the tech articles on the AIRWOLF website.

meanwhile I can get a new regulator,
(even got another, with a similar problem I guess),
