Use of 100LL fuel in 912

One item to be aware of: If you find "Mogas" at an airport you are actually finding "regular" 87 octane unleaded auto gas, not "premium" 91 octane unleaded auto gas. The 912ULS, as Roger Lee stated, requires 91 octane fuel, minimum. Use of "Mogas" bought at an airport will quickly ruin your 100hp engine, and your day.

I will admit you may have to change oil at 25-30 hours but so did I when I had a Cherokee 180.
Not to mention that the Rotax engine has less oil in the system. Three liters total to full mark on reservoir tank. My Piper Arrow II carried 8 quarts max; flight was prohibited with less than 6 quarts.
So even if I'm changing oil every 25 hours in my Pipistrel Virus SW with 912iS Rotax, I'm still going through less oil overall than I was with my Lycoming IO-360 (3 liters/quarts x 2 = 6, plus a little bit for the oil filters ... make it 7 quarts every 50 hours (not seeing noticible oil burn in 25 hours). Compared to my Lycoming: 8 quarts (never filled it to max, but there was a little to fill filter, so call it 8 quarts. Plus, it seemed to burn about 1/2 quart in 50 hours... so ... call it 8 Liters for the Lycoming for the 50 hour normal change interval vs. 7 Liters for 50 hours with the Rotax on an accelerated change schedule due to using 100LL.

SWIFT Fuels a 100LL replacement will ship 55 gallon containers to your location. I switched a couple of years ago in my Remo GX after running 100LL with TCP for 5 years it seems to run better less vibration in the midrange RPM.

AlanIt's not all "87". Quite a number of airports have 91AKI or greater unleaded "mogas", and others are 90AKI (which should be fine if you're topping off a tank filled with something higher). You just have to check and see what the rating is before you use it.
