Lockwood and Leaf both have a laser cut ring wrench for the Rotax oil filters.

I like Leading Edge's oil filter wrench better. It's stainless and beefed up enough it will last a lifetime.

I use a piece of 1000 grit sandpaper to increase my hand grip instead of hand slip and I have easily been getting the 3/4 additional rotation after filter seal contact.

I have not seen any reason to believe I have been damaging the oil filters painted coating.

This is what I have used for the last 15 years. Has never failed me. Good in a tight spot. Will accommodate a wide variation in spin on filter sizes. About $12 on EBay.
