Rotax iS Fuel Pumps are having problems right now. I have returned 5 by now. Brand new out of the box and they can't produce the PSI to start the engine. Really bad show and no bulletin about it yet. I am looking to completely do fuel pumpth 915iS and just get credit from Rotax.
I heard rumors like this quite a lot. Is this pump that un-reliable? Because we need to understand that this pump is used in aircraft like for example ICON A5 which claims that it can even be flown reliably for a first-time user who never had any flight experience before CMIIW?
Low output doesn't mean low reliability. Maybe a batch of pumps from the mfg produced lower than rated output or maybe the fuel or electrical system is causing it. But reliability means it doesn't fail. Maybe it's just not as strong as promised but that doesn't indicate that it has a higher chance of seizing.
Also the ICON A5 is infamous for advertising that it's a flying jet ski and is super easy to use and that caused some fatalities. Their advertisements showed people doing dangerous stunts and flying very low altitudes doing steep banks and people emulated that and died. No fatalities for the ICON have been caused by engine failure and the plane is physically reliable.
