I asked a related question a few weeks ago, and got zero responses. I think that that might have been because the question was not answerable. New question: how often have you had to replace coils? Also, have you ever got a coil error message and the real problem was a loose connection or etc?

I have heard of a few, but I never had to replace one. There were a few back in the old days, but this was addressed in an SB. Some of the failures were owner caused.

French engine specialist I've never seen any faillure on coil, but plenty guy who are sure coils are dead! when I test them they were all ok! The coils have no mecanics parts and are static they very simple en sceled that why without external reason they never fail.
If you have ignitions isue look somewher else

Thank you for your response!
Is there a list of other things to look for when the Dynon says that there is a coil issue, please?

One of the kitplane 912iS install manuals shows fabricating a heat shield between the coolant collection spider and the ignition coil that is above cylinder #2. I suspect there is a reason for that.
I had one of the new rotax spark plugs start to misfire in cruise about 20 minutes after takeoff. The only indication was high EGT. It took awhile to sort out and eventually I suspected that the coil was failing when hot. If someone replaced the coil and changed the spark plugs at the same time I can see such an issue being falsely blamed on the coil.
