Running the engine at 2500~3000 RPM. Throttling down one carb at a time. 1/3 carb made the RPMs go way down, while strangling the 2/4 made a much smaller difference.
We tried again today, with the opposite result.
And when I today looked at the floats of the 1/3 carb, I saw one float had detoriated, like in cracked layers. So I'll buy the large carb "rejuvenation" kit plus the rubber flanges. That should do it. After all, the engine is 16 years old and has run 635 hours.
