914 exhaust help

To what extent are we discussing "loose" here? Once the exhaust system is securely bolted up, there shouldn't be any movement or exhaust leakage whatsoever.

To add to what Rotax-Owner said.  The turbo runs much hotter than the standard 912 or even 912iS.  We have to secure the turbo in a fixed position so to accommodate the expansion from heat the joints have to have a "slip" fit in between the head and the turbo collector.  As soon as the engine starts this is sealed and allows for that expansion and contraction on running.  When it is bolted into place even cold you should not see a loose fitting but remember it will be moving with the heat in normal running regardless.  I have never seen exhaust leakage on a stock Rotax header with the 914.  From the factory the exhaust is part of the hot test and any leakage issues would have been dealt with at that time if needed.
