Hal effect current sensor question

The Generator/Regulator Output Current would be on the Regulator "B" lead.

"Amp Meter Current" usually shows Battery Charge/Discharge Current.
You want to know if the battery is being charged or not.
You will know if the regulator has failed because the battery will be discharging and the Amp meter will be showing it.

The Regulator current will vary wildly with the load.  Lights On/Off, Pumps On/Off, Radio transmissions, etc.
It is academic information.

If the Generator is handling the varying house loads, the amp meter will show a nominal battery charge current that remains steady.
Positive Charge Current = Good.
Any Negative Current = Bad!

Add a Regulator Amp Meter if you wish, but retain the Battery Amp Meter.
