Good to hear someone else cleaned in place. I hope not to find much residue as well since I've run Mogas except for the less than 30 hours during a 3 weeks period when I bought the airplane in FL and flew back to CO.
you need to know what stripped, the bolt or the tread in the tank. if it needs a new tank then you have to take a lot of spare parts that may not be needed. Perhaps call a few of the service centers and look for a used tank.
Cheers

I'd take the tank to a welding shop and have a new drain bung fabricated and installed. If you're in the Pacific NW or willing to ship your tank, I would recommend that you call Steve Furjesi (fur-jessi) at Experimental Aircraft Metal Fabrication. He makes a lot of the engine mounts for one of the big kit manufacturers, and I've had him do some welding on my Kitfox frame. He does beautiful work.
