I'm gonna guess that "squeeze" is compression  :)

Yes! Squeeze is Compression.
One part of the 4 cycles of operation. 
Intake, Compression, Combustion, Exhaust.
A.K.A. ... Suck, Squeeze, Bang, Blow!

to check if I have ignition is it OK to remove a spark plug or two and see if I have a spark at the plug gap while cranking over the engine, with the plug out but grounded to the engine block?
