are there standard winterization kits ? or it seems as if everyone is on there own to solve low operating temps ??

Install a Tanis engine preheater and tape off some of the airflow across the radiator and oi cooler

Agreed. And adding an oil thermostat really helped us on our 914 powered Searey.
