-01 serial numbers? 912ULS

When it comes to the specifics that pertain to -01 serial numbers, is the "-01" actually PART OF the serial number, or stamped above the serial number near the "Type" line on the serial plate?

The -01 is not part of the serial number, but rather it is a suffix of the 'engine type'. Please have a look at this service bulletin from 2015:
