Transient high water temp

This past Saturday I went flying. It was low 70's OAT. I'm use to the water temp being a little higher at full throttle for takeoff and my initial climb out. However this time it was just below the "red line" and and when I throttled back it stayed there for maybe 5 minutes before falling back to the middle of the green where it stayed for the remainder of the 70 minute or so flight. I have verified the coolant level is good. Anything else I should look for?
