EGT distance from exhaust flange

I'm planning to put a clamp-on type EGT probe on each of the two rear cylinders of my 912ULS exhaust headers. How far from the exhaust flange should they be placed? How critical is the distance to assure a reasonable temp reading?

    100mm or 3.9”. This is in the Installation manual. They all need to be the same when you install them. You can drill the hole in any angle that will give you the best clearance in that particular area.
