Hi. What may be reasons for an engine stopping with a rather violent thump following a normal shutdown? The engine is a 912ULS, around 2700hrs with slipper clutch. The hard stop is intermittent but is becoming more frequent. The friction torque of the slipper clutch is within range although seems to have reduced since its last 100hr service. For the first time small chunks of metal have been present on the magnetic plug and small parts on the oil filter mat rather than metal filings. Otherwise engine runs well and all other servicing parameters are satisfactory. Every so often the engine may thump on the start up but much more frequently on the shutdown. Is the shutdown affected by the sprag clutch also or could it be a gearbox issue? Many thanks. Shelley
