Tachometer Signal Characteristics

I am working on a small engine monitor project which includes a tachometer. Can someone describe the characteristics of the tachometer signal from the 912? I am looking specifically for expected voltage ranges and distortions that I will need to filter. My engine is currently under overhaul so I can't get a scope on it.

Thanks that is exactly what I need. Do you know if there is an equivalent for the 582?

Any engine using an inductive pick-up is likely to have similar parameters. The amplitude gets larger as the frequency increases. I would rectify the negative pulse, limit the amplitude or block it and then bandpass/lowpass the signal.
