I thought the new Rotax starter was an inch longer? On the C42 (model I have, newer models have a longer nose) the starter is very close to the exhaust.

The high torque starter is a little longer due to those two protrusions on the end. I have seen people cut those off. Measure your old black starter.
The Skytec is 135mm long plus 23mm for the two protrusions on the end and 74mm in diameter.
