I can identify gear ratio by gear s/n?

Hi!
I have problem to identify gear's ratio. I have photos with s/n of gears but how by this I can identify radio of them?

Hard to read...is that 05.1293? It will also be written on the dog gear and may be easier to read (maybe your flash or some reflection is hiding it in your photo?
if so, it is a 2.43:1 ratio p/n 886518
Installed on 912ULS s/n 5645119.

If you are looking at the actual gears, just count the teeth on each gear and divide.
A 51 tooth gear being driven by a 21 tooth gear will give a 51/21=2.43 gear ratio.

Was this originally a 2.43 to 1 ratio?

4417569 was produced 13-Dec-1996.

That is old enough that there are no details for it registered in the factory database.
(So I am not able to determine with absolute certainty which gearset was originally installed...)

An 887705 gearbox is/was installed on 914UL and 914F engines.
It is described in the Parts manuals as Gear Box, with Clutch, 2.43, Version #3 (22mm, Narrow Dog Gear)
Installed on Engines up to 4.417.790

It appears that the 887705 was replaced by the 887706 which was upgraded to the current 887708 with the New 27MM, Wide Dog Gear. But don't quote me on that.
