Finding crankcase serial number via engine serial number

I have a very old 912UL from a Europa (980 hours). The engine serial number is 4153138. The serial number on the gearbox housing is clearly visible as 10336? If anyone can help me with confirmation / original configuration info regarding this engine as it left the factory that would be greatly appreciated. Also on the side of the crankcase is marked Rotax A 2195 and then the numbers 6911 723 L1 but no obvious crankcase serial number in the format described in the IPC. How do i conclude what serial number this crankcase is and therefore which serial number range this crankcase set belongs to?

That is a rather old engine - produced 17-Nov-1994!
With more recent engines we can look up the serials of individual large components in the factory database, but the older ones typically do not have any more information than their date of manufacture.
This one is listed simply as 912 UL, and we can see that it was originally sold by the Canadian distributor.

Possibly a much older (1990s) version of the IPC can shed some light on the serial number location? I am looking at the 1993 and the 1995 editions, and they indicate that for your serial number the crankcase should be part number 886 353 (or possibly 886 359) and "marked with serial number". Maybe have a look for that part number, and see if you are in the ballpark for original crankcase... (Those IPCs do not indicate the location of either the serial or the part numbers - but the part number should be cast into the crankcase somewhere...)

look for the numbers stamped into each side of the crankcase; under the cylinders and between the lifter bores.
